Groan, earworms that I cannot get out of my head from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack/ songs featured in the trailer. Every time I hear them I feel like doing the Indian head-shake from left to right. Have a listen, and dance bhangra for me.

Indeed, a whole new meaning to "Indie music".

Directed by Spike Jonze this is an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's story, where Max, a disobedient little boy sent to bed without his supper, creates his own world--a forest inhabited by ferocious wild creatures that crown Max as their ruler. Set to be released October 16th, 2009

The monsters look a bit CJ7 and Furbies, but its okay, I'm making a date with this movie already.

ERND Advertisement

Advertisement for fictitious company, ERND, that Tioranu, Pei Wen and I (the 3 musketeers) have set up for our Basic Media Writing (affectionately known as BMW) module. ERND is an online service for people to hire others to run errands for them.

Disclaimer: www.ernd.com.sg does not exist.

We actually cheated, and chopped up a normal-sized square post-it (on the right) into 9 mini pieces to save up on Pei Wen's post-its. Lol. But mini post-its really look realllly cute.

Love the trailer for using Sigur Ros's Hoppípolla! EPIC.

Finally caught Slumdog Millionaire, the much raved about movie. Interesting concept based on a cheesy game (WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE!). A lot on life and its many experiences and coincidences and how one story leads to another and it all links up into one big story. Everything happens for a reason, indeed. Quite into the soundtrack now, with the Bollywood, Banghra, east-meets-west feel. I'm so gonna download it :D

Hmm, how about this grim-looking one, probably filled with evil thoughts.

Or, one filled with helium, which probably will make you feel light-headed (pun intended).

Or! Having a 100% AUTHENTIC POLAROID CAMERAAAAA (!!!) permanently attached to your eye; definitely delivers the images in an instant. Now that's a head start. :D

Hmm.

So anyway, I was so damn fuggin tired the whole day, felt like I could just fall flat on my face any moment and sleep right on the spot. But suddenly, weirdly, miraculously, idiotically, just when I'm about to actually sleep at midnight, I become super wide awake somehow! Friggin hell! Now, 3am, I feel as wide awake as.. I don't know what. But it sure feels like Energy Level +++++. Darn. Final sem projects are engulfing us in incoming continuous gigantic Tsunami waves and I'm struggling to stay afloat but it seems a little harder than impossible. Drowning myself in the beautiful epic music of the LOTR soundtrack by Howard Shore. Feeling emotionally imbalanced :(

I'm weird. And evil.

Watched this French movie, directed by Francois Ozon on the telly. Okto's Filmart really do show pretty good films, that is if I stay home long enough on weekends to catch them at 10pm.

I have to admit that I watched it at first because of the film title. 7x2 meets 5x2! Ahahaha.

Other than that, I didnt regret watching it. It depicts the love story of a middle aged couple who ends up divorcing, but the film is shown in a chronologically opposite order, i.e. the film goes back in time. Divorce first, then betrayal, pregnancy, marriage, and finally, how they met.

But by the time you reach this honeymoon, sweet and lovey-dovey period, when they were happy and their love was pure, your heart is aching. Ironically, you feel sad when you see them so happily in love. Because you know how their love will end.

Then you question, what is true love?

Some advertisements take up as much effort, money, resources and love to make as a TV programme. Especially for TV ads.

It is just that most people do not appreciate such commercials. People watch them, get entertained, and forget them quickly. They hardly have any long-lasting impact on people. Sort of like, having sex with prostitutes whose names you won't even remember the next day.

Here's a typical scenario:
Your favourite TV programme gets long and draggy. You feel like you cant take it anymore. You're quite dying of boredom and tiredness when suddenly the commercial break cuts in. You thank god for a change in scenes - something refreshing and funny is playing on the TV at last. And boy, it's a new commercial playing. How funny, cute and novel! You have a good laugh, you tell your friends about this new commercial you've seen. It triggers you to look up more about it and you talk and laugh about it for the rest of the month.

Then a few weeks later, you're watching your TV programme again. You realise that it isn't that bad after all. It is after all, your favourite TV show. That was just a period of bad scripting, but now the plot is back. The story is more intense than ever before and you fall back in love with the show. How you've missed it. The commercial continues to play during the break, you get a few good laughs, but that's about it. It's always the same. Slowly, the commercial disappears off airtime but the TV programme continues to entice you.

After not seeing the commercial for such a long time, you forget about it.

Couple of months later, the same company produces another commercial, funnier and better than the previous one. It plays more frequently on air, and you often stop to just enjoy the commercial. It is entertaining and you watch it over and over again on youtube, but your mind is always on the TV show and its awesome story development, for it has so much more substance than a mere short entertaining commercial break. You talk to your friends about the TV programme, not the commercial. Because your TV programme is so much more important.

It is so easy for you to just indulge in the entertainment value of this short-lived commercial and then, conveniently dismiss it. And then, you go back to watch your favourite TV show which you have been "loyal" to for the past two years.

Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

It's Hip To Be A Square!

I suddenly feel Tesseract-y, as well as the sudden urge to reminisce on my favouritefavouritefavourite Sesame Street, and as a result you get this.

Which also reminds me of something that I did not want to post on my blog for a long time now (reason attributing to my then-occupation), but ah well what the heck, just don't watch this if you're too innocent and pure. (Or so you think.)

Saw this photo from The Straits Times, gave me the creeps. And also, people obsessed with finding the truth about the NTU stabbing incident, they created a Facebook Group.

My dear friends from NTU, don't get too hung up on the back stabbing yeah (puns intended).

Suicidal/murder instincts, anyone else?

TESSERACT POSTER, originally uploaded by seventimestwo.

The poster for Ina's ADM 2D Foundation projects titled "Tactile Colour In Space". After a little more than a couple of sleepless nights, bad (male) toilet smells and non-stop McDonald's meals, we finally finished all the projecting and cutting and sticking and cutting (note order). Presenting to you the proud artists of our 2D project, "Tesseract", Tiorablu, Peenk and Jello! Extra special thanks to many more people who helped in our project one way or another.

Can you tell what's wrong with this grasshopper?

1. He only has four legs.
2. He is being eaten alive by soldier ants.

R.I.P, Mr Grasshopper. We are sorry for (unintentionally) causing your slow and torturous death.

Before I leave, here's my latest inspiration: August Bradley, introduced to me by Clarence.

OMG, those are photographs not paintings mind you. Caravaggist eh? The composition, the lighting, the chiaroscuro, the distant expression.. Gorgeous. I'm in love.

I've got a lot to blog about what I've been doing, but I'm too shagged and lazy. Groan. Another day perhaps. Here's a sneakpeek:

1. What I did during the pathetic recess week which I barely felt the existence of.
2. Two suicide cases, one attempted murder and many more thoughts of suicide on the campus of NTU within the same one crazy week.
3. Little India drawing class.
4. Our tesseract 2D project!
5. Finally, no more 44 points and immediate failures :D

YAY.

Quoted from The Straits Times March 2, 2009

THE Merlion had to be 'caged'' yesterday for workers to examine the hole in its head.

A lightning strike on Saturday had taken a chunk off its mane. The debris landed on the statue's base, cracking it.

Testifying to its iconic status, the Singapore Tourism Board lost no time sending in the troops to see to the damage.

Tourists and residents alike gawked at the 8.6m sculpture yesterday, trying to make out its injury through the mass of scaffolding.

Mr Anton Johannson, 23, from Sweden, was disappointed that he could not capture the Merlion 'in action'' on camera. It had stopped spouting water. But when told of the lightning strike, he cheered up: 'Now we have a story to tell people!''

STB did not say if this was the first time the Merlion, sited at One Fullerton, had been struck by lightning and whether there was a lightning conductor nearby that could have saved it from harm.

I think that's really quite sad. Lolololol. Poor thing.
